Aligarh, October 22: "It is important to handle anxiety in a society that's uncomfortable with emotions and being honest about how we feel doesn't make us weak-it makes us human," said Dr Poonam Batra, a renowned homeopathic doctor and psychological counsellor.
She was the guest speaker at the 'Mental Health Programme' organised by the Department of Home Science, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
In a motivating lecture on 'Different Issues related to Mental Health', Dr Poonam pointed out, "Mental health problems lead to difficulties in professional lives and personal relationships."
She discussed the importance of spiritual wellness, successful mental activities, productive daily activities and fulfilment of relationships.
Speaking on 'suicide prevention', Dr Poonam said that it is imperative to raise awareness on common treatment options for people suffering with usual risk factors leading to suicides such as psychiatric disorders, genetics, substance abuse, and family and social situations.
