30-OCT-2019: AMU continues programmes to observe Swachh Bharat Mission
Aligarh, October 30: As part of campaign, Swachh Bharat Mission, the Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal, Faculty of Unani Medicine; Niswan-wa-Qabalat and Atfal OPD consultants sensitized their patients about the importance of water harvesting.
The campaign Swachh Bharat Mission is an initiative of the Prime Minister in which various Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculties, departments, schools and offices have been running uninterrupted awareness programmes on environmental issues and cleanliness drives.
"The consultants in an awareness drive, encouraged patients to end wastage of water and explained how water recycling can save the world," said Prof Suboohi Mustafa, Chairperson, Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal.
Prof Suboohi also pledged to harvest water and keep the environment clean with faculty members, students and non-teaching staff.
In another program, the Department of Home Science organised a series of events to raise awareness of dry and wet waste segregation as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign.
"To create awareness on the importance of eradicating plastic waste; teachers and students prepared charts, posters and flash cards; waste plastic bottles were collected to be reused as flower and plant pots; waste polythene bags were also collected; lectures were conducted on harmful effects of plastic use and 'Bala Hey Ye Plastic' a Nukkad Natak (Street Play) on avoiding plastic use was also performed," said Prof Anisa M Durrani, Chairperson, Department of Home Science.
