UP PATHCON 2019 held at JNMC
Aligarh, November 17: Resource persons from all over the country discussed how latest advances are pushing the limits of pathology during the UP PATHCON 2019, the XXVIIth Annual Conference of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM) UP Chapter organised by the Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Attending the inaugural function of the two-day conference, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Akhtar Haseeb said that pathology is playing a major role by providing accurate and comprehensive diagnosis to help clinicians in preparing the best treatment plans.
He added: "This conference will have useful deliberations on all topical aspects of pathology, ranging from the impacts of the microbiome in human disease through mechanisms of cell death and autophagy to recent advances in immunity and the uses of genomics for understanding, classifying and treating human cancers."
The Guest of Honour, Prof Vatsala Misra, President, IAPM UP Chapter emphasised the importance of keeping abreast with the recent changes for proper and correct diagnosis.
"Lectures by eminent speakers from all over India will help the young pathologists participating in the conference in updating their knowledge in all aspects of pathology," she said.
Prof Rakesh Bhargav, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Medicine pointed out that this conference coincides with the International Pathology Day 2019 on the theme, 'Advances in Rapid and Point-of-Care Diagnostic Testing'.
"On the occasion, let us also celebrate the contribution and important role played by pathology and laboratory medicine services in addressing global health challenges and improving the health outcomes of communities around the world," he emphasised.
Prof Pradyumn Singh, Secretary, IAPM UP Chapter said that IAPM conferences are well planned scientific programs with combination of diverse topics keeping in view the needs of post-graduates and fellow pathologists.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman, Department of Pathology and Organising Chairman, of the programme, Prof S H Arif remarked that academic conclaves such as conferences and workshops, provide an opportunity for exchange of current knowledge as well as platforms for educating trainees and young faculty members.
Prof Nishat Afroz, Organising of the conference extended the vote of thanks, while Dr Bushra Siddiqui conducted the programme.
