17-FEB-2020: Ross Masood Day observed
ALIGARH February 17: "Sir Ross Masood played a pivotal role in elevating the academic standard of the Aligarh Muslim University with special focus on scientific education and he made special efforts to gather in the university highly knowledgeable teachers of all branches of science", said Dr Rahat Abrar, Director, Urdu Academy while addressing a commemorative programme on Sir Ross Masood, the fourth Vice Chancellor of AMU and grandson of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. The programme was held at Ross Masood Hall as part of the "Ross Masood Day" celebrations on 131st birth anniversary.
Dr Abrar said that Allama Iqbal and famous novelist E. M. Forster were close friends to Ross Masood and they visited Aligarh and inspired a generation of AMU students with their words.
Addressing on the occasion, Chief Guest, Prof Shah Mohd Waseem, former Dean, Faculty of Commerce highlighted the significant contributions of Sir Ross Masood in the academic and scientific development of the university. He also urged the students to attach with the strong cultural values of the university and make themselves useful to society and the nation.
The guest of honour, Prof Mohd Wasim Ali, Proctor, urged the students to focus on their studies and stay away from the unlawful and anti-social activities.
Earlier, Prof Mujib Ahmad Ansari, Provost, welcomed the guests and appreciated the efforts of the team of organizers in making the Ross Masood Day memorable.
Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khan (Warden) proposed a vote of thanks.
