Aligarh, April 27: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) refutes allegations made by certain political leaders in a section of media against the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) for supposedly becoming a hub of Covid 19 infected people.
The J N Medical College has made elaborate arrangements to fight the deadly Coronavirus. JNMC is a frontline hospital in Western Uttar Pradesh fighting the Coronavirus by working round the clock and conducting 250 free-of-cost tests daily of samples coming from Agra, Mathura, Bulandshahr, Hatras, Moradabad, Sambhal, Etah, Kasgunj, Rampur and other areas. Till now, the lab has conducted almost 5, 000 Covid 19 tests.
AMU clarified that all JNMC doctors are equipped with Personal Protection Kits (PPE).
The University said that 80 of its health workers attending Covid patients have tested negative, whereas five patients, who came in contact of the Coivd 19-positive, resident doctor have also tested negative.
Meanwhile, all patients who are getting admitted in JNMC are being tested for Covid 19 and all the testing reports are duly sent to the District Administration in line with protocols.
AMU further stated that the Coronavirus positive patients have been admitted in JNMC after visiting various private hospitals and health centres and a thorough investigation in the matter needs to be conducted.
It is to be noted that in the fight against Coronavirus, two young AMU faculty members from JNMC and the Z H College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET) have developed a cost-effective Infection 'Protection Box' to shield physicians and nurses during COVID-19 patient intubations, reducing their risk of infection.
In order to ameliorate the sufferings of the patients during the ongoing countrywide lockdown, JNMC has also started helplines. People facing cardiac problems can make brief calls or send WhatsApp messages on the helpline number, 7599050505; while the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology can answer the queries of patients on helpline numbers, 9719287391 and 9887430520.
The JNMC has also been given the status of a L2 Covid 19 hospital.
