28-APR-2020: Webinar held on COVID-19 and its implications
ALIGARH April 28: The nationwide lockdown has given a boost to the online education system and the educational institutions are deftly exploring the possibilities of holding online classrooms and seminars with the help of several cyber educational portals and apps. The teachers and students all over the country are participating in online teaching sessions, sessional tests, assignment submissions, PPT presentations and Webinars.
Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Commerce also organized a three-day Webinar competition on the theme "Management of Frozen World and Melting Economies" with 85 students participating in the panel discussions held online. A total of 17 teams participated in the event, including 7 teams of undergraduate level, 7 teams of postgraduate level and 3 teams of doctoral level. The participants discussed issues related to COVID-19 and its social, economic and political implications.
Addressing the inaugural session, Professor Imran Saleem, Dean, Faculty of Commerce commended the students for their academic engagement even during the COVID-19 crisis.
More than 300 students registered as attendees while about 2000 viewers viewed the live streaming of the webinar on YouTube.
Dr Saeem Khan and Dr Firdos Ikram (undergraduate level), Prof Mohd Shamim and Dr Anwar Ahmad (docotral level) and Dr Naghma Azhar and Dr Mohd Shoeb (postgraduate level) judged the competition.
In his presidential remarks Professor Nawab Ali Khan thanked the students for their enthusiastic participation. He highlighted the challenges posed by the Corona virus pandemic and underlined the role of academic fraternity in coping with the teaching and learning issues faced by students.
Prof Khan said that the winning teams will be felicitated with awards and the results will be announced in the World Forum of COVID-19 Webinar.
The webinar competition was hosted on Zoom with total time duration of 8 hours. Dr Mohd Nayyer Rahman provided the technical support.
