29-APR-2020: FDP on 'Managing Online Teaching and Research'
Aligarh, April 29: "The information technology is fully measured up to covert the pandemic bred lockdown into an opportunity of academic enrichment and it is the need of hour", said Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice-chancellor while inaugurating a two-day faculty development programme on "Managing Online Teaching and Research" organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with the INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad here today. It is organised to keep up with the demand of online teaching and learning during the Lockdown period.
The programme in which 285 faculty members are participating has resource persons from INFLIBNET Centre, AMU, Zayed University in Dubai and Microsoft.
Emphasizing that AMU is organizing many such programmes to develop online teaching and learning skills of teachers, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said that it is a priority to utilize information technology and also to prepare the workforce for tomorrow‚??s knowledge and technology driven work environment.
He motivated the faculty members to convert the COVID-19 lockdown misfortune into a positive outcome for the University.
Addressing AMU faculty members through video conferencing from Ahmedabad, the chief-guest, Prof J P Singh Joorel, Director, INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad informed that soon a Learning-Management-System will be launched and it will be offered free-of-cost to AMU faculty members and students.
In the welcome address, Prof Akbar Husain, Convener of the programme and the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences said that it is heartening to see that during the lockdown the faculty members and students are taking up online teaching and learning with great interest.
FDP Coordinator, Prof Naushad Ali P M pointed out that in the wake of the pandemic, the teaching fraternity is doing the best to continue the teaching process through virtual modes such as emails, social media and video conferencing and these FDP programmes are making them familiar with the management of virtual classrooms. He also extended the vote of thanks.
