18-MAY-2020: Resident Doctors donate 133 PPE kits
Aligarh, May 17: Respect for frontline COVID 19 warriors, resident doctors of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), grew manifold as they pooled their stipend to make a generous contribution of 133 Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Kits to JNMC, while continuing the fight against the unprecedented Covid -19 outbreak, braving the disease as well as contagion-wary citizens.
Their philanthropic gesture has received widespread adoration and Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor appreciated their exemplary contribution.
Receiving the kits from Dr Hamza and Dr Kashif, RDA President and Secretary respectively; Prof Shahid Sidiqui (Principal, JNMC) said, "It is a great gesture by RDA who are not only working in this calamity but also showing their philanthropic side.â??
The medical college provides nearly two hundred PPE kits to its doctors and other health workers. At present fifteen are admitted in the JNMC Covid ward, which has maximum number of patients in the district. The college has also set up a telemedicine equipped control room to monitor the care.
Dr Abdul Waris, Deputy Medical Superintend, said that RDA's contribution manifests how resident doctors work in unison with the JNMC administration.
Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi (Chairman, Department of Surgery) pointed out that the RDA has been making valuable contributions since the beginning of the outbreak.
Earlier in April, RDA raised funds to purchase critical protective gear like surgical masks and sanitisers, he added.
It is to be noted that JNMC, which has been declared as a dedicated L2 Covid hospital has discharged 12 patients including three resident doctors after full recovery. One patient treated by Prof Shamim, Dr Nafees, Dr Lubna Zafar and Dr Waleem Ahmad was discharged today.
Till today, JNMC has tested 9168 from various places, out of which 218 tested positive. We conduct tests round the clock, added Professor Haris M.Khan, Nodal Officer.
