13-JUN-2020: Webinar held on boosting immunity
ALIGARH June 13: "The Unani medicine system has potential to fight epidemics such as COVID-19 with the help of various herbs which have immune boosting effect and can play an important role in maintaining human health", said Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University at a webinar organized by the Department of Munafeul Aza, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, AMU.
Addressing the inaugural session of webinar on "Optimising ?abi'at (physis) and Boosting Immunity as Cure-all in Epidemics and Pandemics", Prof Mansoor urged the faculty members to work on quality research projects with multi-disciplinary approach.
Prof MMH Siddiqui, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof Saud Ali Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College also addressed the participants.
Prof Masood Alam Khan, Department of Immunology, School of Applied Medical Science, Al-Qassim University, KSA spoke on patho-physiology of COVID-19 and role of magical herb, black seed in its cure.
Prof Ghulamuddin Sofi, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia, NIUM, Bangalore elaborated the concept of Tabi'at and stressed on empirical approach to establish and assess determinants of Tabi'at and its implications.
Prof Mohd Zulkifle, Head, Department of Kulliyat, NIUM, Bangalore discussed the ways to improve and boost immunity while Prof Abdul Mannan, Department of Moalejat, AMU delineated the impact of life style on human health and its role in combating epidemics.
Prof Kunwar Mohammad Yusuf Amin, Department of Ilmul Advia, AMU, stressed the need for developing pathology of Corona Virus based on Unani medicine.
Prof Suhail Fatima, Dean, School of Unani Medical Education and Research and Medical Superintendent of Majeedia Hospital, Jamia Hamdard, Delhi, discussed the importance of basic hygiene in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier, Dr Farooq Ahmad Dar, Chairman, Department of Munafeul Aza, welcomed the speakers and participants and discussed the role of Tabi'at in maintaining health as a supreme healer.
Dr Saba Zaidi convened the webinar while Dr Hafiz Iqtidar Ahmad, organising secretary briefed on the objectives of webinar. Dr Ayesha Aijaz proposed the vote of thanks.
Over 600 faculty members, research scholars and students attended the webinar.
