18-JUN-2020: JNMC maintains decent recovery rate
Aligarh, June 18: The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) of Aligarh Muslim University has achieved a remarkable break through by maintaining 57.68 per cent recovery rate of coronavirus cases which is higher than national recovery rate as the country continues to witness a rise in infected people. So far, 56 out of 103 patients have been discharged after successful recoveries.
A considerably high recovery rate at JNMC has come at a time when the Union Government on Thursday declared that 52.79 per cent Covid patients have been cured all over the country.
Applauding the hard work of health workers in JNMC, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said that the strenuous efforts of doctors and nursing staff is behind the good recovery rate.
"However, caution must be maintained as the abnormal spike in new cases lately threatens to undermine the Country's efforts," he added.
Prof Mansoor pointed out that to make sure that the difference between new cases and recoveries does not rise by the day, it is imperative that all Government of India guidelines on various precautions to curb the spread are followed properly and strictly.
JNMC, which has been declared a Covid L2 facility by the government to treat severe coronavirus patients continues to conduct free-of-cost tests as health professionals are working long hours attending to a number of infected people. Various JNMC departments have also launched e-consultation and telemedicine facilities for Non-Covid patients.
In a bid to prevent employees, students and visitors from contracting coronavirus; AMU has also installed automated mist based sanitiser dispensers, sanitisers with paddle stands and wall hanging contactless temperature scanners at various entry points of the university. Contactless temperature scanners have also been given to the guards deployed at different university gates to check temperatures of all visitors.
Meanwhile, Khalaf Sabah, a junior resident doctor was today discharged after successfully recovering from coronavirus. A minor child has also recovered and will be discharged shortly.
