30-JUN-2020: 8059 Samples of COVID-19 Tested at JNMCH in Last 15 Days
Aligarh, June 30: The JN Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has tested 8059 samples of COVID-19 during the last fifteen days, received from Aligath, Etah and Kasganj districts, out of which 220 samples have tested positive. It is just 2.7% of the total samples tested.
7659 samples out of 8059 have tested negative that is 95.0%, a major relief for health personnel and authorities. Another 180 samples (2.2%) were repeat samples.
Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal and CMS, JN Medical College and Hospital), said all the 8059 samples received during June 15-29, 2020 have been tested and results dispatched to the concerned government officials without any delay.
"The labs at the JN Medical College and Hospital function 24x7 and doctors and paramedics show their commitment and resolve against COVID-19 pandemic by working day and night, so that the nation wins the battle against the pandemic", said Prof Siddiqui.
Talking about the latest figures he said, on June 29, 1198 samples from the said districts were received, out of which 17 tested positive and repeat sampling was done on 6 samples.
"AMU has fully equipped labs and dedicated efforts of our doctors and paramedics show positive outcome. A large number of COVID-19 patients have recovered at JN Medical College and Hospital owing to the quality treatment and care provided to them", said Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, AMU.
He urged the people to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Government of India from time to time, to curb the spread of COVID-19. "Social distancing is the new norm in this time of public health crisis and one has to make it a habit to flatten the curve" added Prof Mansoor.
Prof Haris M Khan, (Medical Superintendent and Chairman, Department of Microbiology, JNMCH) said, testing of novel Corona virus samples is done on urgent basis in the lab as per protocol and efforts of the staff is commendable in this regard.
Meanwhile several departments of JNMCH continue with providing telemedicine OPD services to general patients. Emergency services including ICU, Critical Care Ward, Dialysis Unit, Paediatric ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Obstetrical Services etc are also running to provide healthcare to the population of Aligarh and the adjoining districts.
