17-JUL-2020: Webinar to observe 'World Youth Skills Day'
Aligarh, July 17: The Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Training and Placement Office, General in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) observed the 'World Youth Skills Day' with a webinar on 'Skill Building: Issues and Challenges during the Covid-19 Pandemic' in which experts highlighted the opportunities and challenges that young people face while looking for employment.
"Young people make up around one-quarter of the global workforce and like every generation before them, the current cohort of global youth will be concerned with finding employment. But they face an uncertain and changing landscape since the Covid 19 outbreak," said Prof Akbar Husain (Dept of Psychology).
Speaking on the importance of acquiring skills, Prof Akbar pointed out that technical and vocational education and training is the way to achieve sustainable development goals and it is important to focus on inclusive and equitable quality education.
Directors and Co-Founders of Enable India, Mr Naqi Abbas and Mr Vachan Shetty delineated development of associated skills and entrepreneurial mindset during Covid 19.
Mr Amit Singh (Co-Founder and CEO -Brightfox Learning Solutions) spoke on the difference between vocational learning and regular education.
Mr Saad Hameed, Training and Placement Officer, General delivered the welcome address, while Dr Asif Hasan extended the vote of thanks. One hundred and twenty students participated in the webinar.
