14-AUG-2020: AMU observes National Remote Sensing Day
Aligarh, August 14: The Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) paid tributes to the pioneer of the Indian Space Program, Dr Vikram Sarabhai by observing the 'National Remote Sensing Day' through a video conferencing platform on the theme, 'Remote Sensing and Space science, with Special Emphasis to its Application for Environment and Society'.
Prof Qazi Mazhar Ali (Dean, Faculty of Science) conducted the introductory session on 'Importance of Remote Sensing Data for effective use', which focussed on the importance of effectively using image data to enhance interpretation skills.
He urged students to participate in academic activities beyond the curriculum by following Indian Society of Remote Sensing.
Prof Akram Javed (Department of Geology) discussed the contributions of Dr Vikram in Indian Space programme and remote sensing applications.
Dr Rizwan Ahmad encouraged students to participate in academic activities and developing scientific temperament, whereas Dr Nazish Khan highlighted the new developments in remote sensing and aerial photography.
Faculty members, advanced students and research scholars attended the online programme.
