15-SEP-2020: Virtual art exhibition
ALIGARH September 15: The Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery and the Department of Fine Arts, Aligarh Muslim University jointly organised an International Virtual Art Exhibition, "A Walk In Time", in a 3D Art Gallery, Berlin, Germany with 70 invited artists from 16 countries including US, Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and 115 artworks put on display in the show.
Inaugurating the exhibition at Cisco Webex platform, noted paediatrician, Dr Hameeda Tariq said that art makes human beings responsive and compassionate towards others. "Where life is largely consumed by materialistic pursuits, art can rekindle human consciousness. In coping with the demands of the present times where the art world is equally affected, we have to reinvent new ways of making art accessible to the public", she added.
Dr Hameeda Tariq said that a virtual art exhibition provides an alternative, though it cannot replace the pleasure of viewing an artwork physically.
Prof Badar Jahan (Chairperson, Department of Fine Arts) said that the virtual art exhibition at the time of global COVID-19 Pandemic reflects the liveliness and resilience of artists who endure the hardships and bring out their agonies in the form of artwork. She said that the invited artists of the show will also be the part of future endeavors by the Department of Fine Arts and the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery and their association will help art learners of AMU connect with the global artist community.
Dr Waseem Mushtaq proposed a vote of thanks.
The virtual exhibition, which concludes on October 5, 2020, can be viewed at https://artspaces.kunstmatrix.com/en/exhibition/2321035/a-walk-in-time.
