23-SEP-2020: Bengali International Webinar held
Aligarh, September 23: The Bengali Section, Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University, organized a two-day Bengali International Webinar, on the topic-'Samokal,Shramajibi Manush-o-Bangla Sahitya' (Present Time, Working class people and Bengali Literature) recently. The aim of the webinar was to discover how the writers of Bengali literature unveiled the reality of the life, the struggles of working class people in their poems, novels, dramas and other literary form after post independent era.
Speaking as a chief guest, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor, appreciated the efforts for holding the webinar in an International platform and described Bengali is one of the oldest languages with rich cultural heritage.
Dr Amina Khatun (In-charge: Bengali Section), the organizer of the Webinar, said that more than 900 participants participated and over two thousand views in YouTube
Prof SN Zeba(Dean, Faculty of Arts) in her welcome address greeted the guests and expressed her attachment with her native place Bengal
On the first day, session was addressed by well-known Bengali writers including Sadhan Chattapadhaya (India), Prof Habib R Rahaman (Kushtia Islami University, Bangladesh), Prof Tapan Mandal (Dean of faculty of Arts, Diamond Harbour Women?s University, W.B), Prof Hakim Arif ((Founder chairman of Dept. of Communication Disorders, DU, Bangladesh)
On second day, the session was conducted by Dr R Tamil Selvan, Dr Pathan Khasim Khan (MIL Dept) and welcome note was given by Prof Zia Ur Rahman Siddiqui (Department of Urdu, AMU) who gave insights on the similarities in Bengali and Urdu literature.
The speakers of second day included the academicians and researchers like Dr Munshi Mohd Younus (Head of the Dept. of Bengali, Zakir Husain Delhi College, Delhi University), Dr Adip ghosh (Bengali Poet, Basirhat College,West Bengal State University), Prof Gias Shamim (DU, Bangladesh) ,Dr Subhankar Ray (Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandira University,WB).
The questions were asked by participants through YouTube live chat options. Dr Mehebub Hossain and Dr Tousif Ahmed hosted the webinar.
