01-OCT-2020: Workshop on 'Intellectual Property Right (IPR) and Patent filing'
Aligarh, October 1: Experts discussed how Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) play vital role in enhancing the socio-economic prosperity of the country and how creativity and innovation have become the new drivers of the economy with the increasing relevance of Intellectual Property (IP) in an online workshop on 'Intellectual Property Right (IPR) and Patent filing' organised by the University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Inaugurating the programme, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor spoke on the importance of the Intellectual Property for the ranking of academic institutions.
He highlighted the urgency for creating a mass IPR literacy movement.
The Chief Guest, Prof Munna khan, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi delineated issues related to the Intellectual property.
Mohd Imran Khan, the Guest of Honour, talked about the importance of IPR to promote the inventors.
Prof Parvez Mustajab, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology said that the power to evolve innovations and thinking in an innovative manner can be increased by means of creating Intellectual Property (IP) awareness amongst students.
Prof Arshad Umar, Principal, University Polytechnic, stressed the need to take benefits of innovations to the society at large. He cited various compelling reasons to promote Intellectual Property rights.
Pooja Maulikar, Examiner of Patents and Designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur explained the patents acts, systems of protection of IPR tools including filing and registration of a patent.
Pankaj P Borkar, Deputy Controller of Patent and Head, RGNIIPM, Nagpur gave an overview on IPR; while Lalit Ambastha and Shruti Kaushik, discussed the history of patents and various aspects of the patent and design.
Shamshad Ali, Coordinator of the workshop briefed about the objectives of the workshop.
M GulamWaris Khan, Co-coordinator of the workshop extended the vote of thanks. Syyada Faheem conducted the inaugural function.
Over 110 participants attended the workshop.
