10-OCT-2020: Online workshop on start-ups
Aligarh, October 10: An online one-day workshop to provide students with the necessary hands-on-training on the functioning of start-ups and how to map and nurture local entrepreneurship ecosystems was conducted at the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Malappuram Centre. The workshop, which was organised by MBA final year students at the Centre was attended virtually by students of various business schools from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala among other states.
In the presidential address, Mr Shafeeque Rehman KV (Coordinator, Department of Business Administration, Malappuram Centre) said: "We need entrepreneurs and their ideas to keep our society moving forward. The work of innovation is continuous, and thinking truly long term is crucial in order to reap the true benefits."
Mr Syed Ahmed Saad (Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Malappuram Centre) spoke on idea generation and shared success stories of business tycoons such as JRD Tata, Steve Jobs, Shahnaz Husain, Bhavish Agrawal and Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
Mr Saad urged students to think out of the box after presenting videos of start-ups working to solve various problems. He also answered queries of students.
Delivering the inaugural speech, Mr Mohammed Yashik P (Assistant Professor at the department) discussed start-up communities as subsets of entrepreneurial ecosystems, which in turn are a part of the larger innovation system and the economy.
Benjeer Usmani delivered the welcome address, while Omair Rumman Azmi extended the vote of thanks.
