15-OCT-2020: AMU faculty member receives grant for project
Aligarh, October 15: Dr Mohd Tariq, faculty member at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has received a grant of approximately Rs 11 lacs from the Capability Systems Centre, Australia to conduct a research project on the emerging 'Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) technology'. The project is titled, 'Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) based Design and Optimal Control of Novel Power Converters for Electric Vehicle Applications'.
Prof M J Ryan, Director, Capability Systems Centre, Australia has sent a communique to Dr Tariq informing him about the release of the grant.
"The project will be executed using the Typhoon HIL-602+ and HIL 402 real-time emulator machines available in the Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Lab, EED, AMU," said Dr Tariq.
He added: "HIL technology has been used for years in industries like aerospace or automotive where plants are especially complex. This technology can augment testing of physical plants to provide many advantages such as reduced cost to test, reduced risks associated with failure, concurrent development of components of the control system, testing many plant variations and testing fault modes in real-time mode".
This is Dr Tariq's second project funded by the Australian agency. He is about to complete a research project on 'Design and Development of Novel Control Algorithms for Improving Power Quality Issues in Power Converters', for which he received a grant of almost Rs 10.5 Lacs.
