21-OCT-2020: Tree plantation drive
Aligarh, October 21: Saplings of various trees were planted in the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) premises in a plantation drive to mark the eventful centenary year of the University.
Speaking at length on the merits of planting trees, Prof M Shakeel Ahmed Samdani, Dean, Faculty of Law said: "A green cover comes with manifold benefits as trees not only release oxygen, but also purify air from unpleasant and harmful gases. Tree plantation is not just something that should be done; instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour to curb global warming."
AMU has a long tradition of maintaining bio-diversity and it is one of the greenest universities in the country, he added.
Prof. Wasim Ali (Proctor), Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui (Incharge, Land and Garden), Prof Shakeel Ahmad (Member-in-Charge, Property), Prof I A Khan, Prof Z M Nomani, Dr Ali Nawaz Zaidi (Deputy Proctor), Dr Rahmatullah, Dr Tabassum Chaudhary and Dr Zeba Azmat joined the other faculty members, students and the non-teaching staff to plant tree saplings.
