Sir Syed Academy

On 22nd October 1974 sir Syed Academy was
annaugurated in the renovated building of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan's bungalow
known as Sir Syed House. Since its inception the academy is trying to
create a general awareness and understanding among its visitors about
the tremendous contributions which Sir Syed Ahmad Khan has made of
education, technology, social and cultural development. The Academy
highlight's the voluminous effort of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan to promote
unity and harmony among the various community of this vast country and
to thus champion the noble following sections of this academy are trying
to play their respective roles in this direction.
Museum
The personal effects of Sir Syed Ahmad
Khan kept in this section for display are a major attraction of the
academy. Besides, there are three galleries
The first gallery aims to providing an
introductory glimpse into the life and times of Sir Syed and his
associates.
The second gallery tells through its
exhibits the story of the various phases of the M.A.O. College
The third gallery presents a brief history
of Aligarh Muslim University. On display are the photographs of the
Vice-Chancellors as well as those of the campus building in the
chronological sequence. Three large portraits of the founder, his sons
and close associates can be seen in the conference hall and the library
Archives
Besides the official records of the M.A.O.
College, this section contains records of various society, projects and
associations established by Sir Syed in a period of about eighty five
years. This set of record provides a wealth of source material not only
for a study of Muslim education activities from 1863 to 1847 but also
for knowledge of the contribution of many Muslims to the country's
struggle for freedom.
A number of Indian and Foreign scholars
has already consulted the archives. There has been a remarkable increase
in the number of Indian and oversease scholars visiting the Academy over
the years with a keen interest in the archives.
