Centre for Women's Studies

Facilities
The Centre's library now has 1549 volumes on
its shelves and subscribes to seven Indian and six foreign journals. The
Library is open to all students and teachers (a register of the users is
maintained), including undergraduate students of Women's Studies
courses. The holdings are being computerized.
The Library aims at collecting all published
books on women in India, with a selection of books on women in general
and other parts of the world, and Government, ILO and non-official
reports on surveys on women.
There is also full internet facility
available to readers to consulte-journals and other digitized material.
Documentation
Newspaper cuttings on news related to women
since 1.2.2003 are maintained in separate topic-wise files as aid to
researches.
Digitised visual material comprising women
as depicted in ancient Indians culptures, Medieval Indian Paintings and
Photographs of Colonial period and contemporary times.
Computer and communication
a)
The Centre has five
Desk-top Computers (IBM Intel Pentium 4 with TFT monitors)
and one Laptop (IBM ThinkPad P4
Processor).
Two computers are used for office work,
and one is reserved for Research
Students,
one for P.G. Diploma Students and one for
under Graduates in Women's
Studies. Laptop is used mainly for power-point
presentation. All the five computers and Laptop are linked through
networking and have internet facilities through Broad Band Connection (BSNL).
The Centre has advance software support and full Desk-top printing
facilities including Comb and Spiral-binding machines, Lamination
Machine and other accessories.
