A. M. U. City High School

The City High School located at G.T.Road, Aligarh, near Tehsil Kol is one of the heritage school established in 1889 and is being maintained and run by the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.The grant and aid are governed by the University  (A.M.U., Aligarh).

The school has 30 class rooms for teaching purpose from class VI to X of five sections each. The average strength of each class is 45. Each class rooms contains one teacher’s table and chair and 45 set of students chairs and table/desk. The school has two science lab for natural sciences and biological science with apparatus and glass wares and chemicals for use. There is a computer lab for imparting computer literacy to students from classes VI to X. The school has one administrative block, examination/ confidential cell and one library for students and staff with books on its stake. It is only school maintained by the university which provides learning / practice in tailoring and agriculture to the students under SUPW / optional subject.

The school imparts education for all without any discrimination in cast, creed and religion.

It is the only school maintained by the University which imparts quality education in all 03 mediums i.e. viz. English, Urdu and Hindi.

Presently the school offers admission in class VI (only for Boys) through combined All India Entrance test under the patronage of the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.

Total number of sanctioned post for teaching staff is (27 PGT, 20 TGT, & 4 PTT) in the school. However the details of teachers presently working in the school are (24 PGT, 19 TGT, & 5 PTT) vacant posts: 3.

The school provides education to all with especial emphasis to educationally backward and downtrodden people of the society on a very nominal fee structure i.e., Rs. 15/- p.m. for Boys only. Tuition Fee is not charged from class VI.  

The school follows curriculum as prescribed by the University based on CBSE pattern and the text books recommended / used are published by the NCERT and CBSE.
