01-JUL-2013: Prof. S. M. Razaullah Ansari, Former Professor of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University has been invited as one of the organisers of the Symposium of the International Commission for the History of Ancient and Medieval Astronomy (CHAMA), at the 24th International Congress of History and Philosophy of Science, Technology and Medicine (ICHSTM) to be held in Manchester from July 22-28, 2013. The commission was established by International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST) at its Congress held in Mexico in 2001 on the proposal of Prof. Ansari. He was elected as its President for 2001-2005, and re-elected as President for 2005-2009. It may be noted that ICHSTM Congresses are organized by IUHPST every four year.
Prof. Ansari will be chairing a session at CHAMA symposium. The title of his invited talk is "The Astronomical Writings of the Descendants of Ahmad Ma'mâr, the Architect of Taj Mahal".
In view of his work on international level, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), which is the adhering body to IUHPST, has nominated Prof. S.M.R. Ansari for the position of Vice President of the Executive Council of IUHPS. The election will be held at Manchester during the General Assembly of IUHPST Congress. He has been successfully elected as the President of a couple of its Historical Commission and twice elected as a member of its Executive Council. Prof. Razaullah Ansari is presently General Secretary of Ibn Sina Academy
