The University has 12 Faculties viz. Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Engineering & Technology, Law etc., each comprising of several Departments of Studies.


Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) draws students from all corners of the country as well as foreign countries, especially Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia.


Maulana Azad Library is the central library of the AMU which is World famous for its invaluable collections of manuscripts and rare books available in oriental languages.

Student Services

AMU provides a wide spectrum of Student services like library, sports and cultural activities, Health and medical checkups, IT services, Hostels, Sports clubs, scholarships etc.

Mr. Asim Rizvi and Ms. Nida Rehmani, Department of Biochemistry, Mr Malik Azeem Anwar, Department of Zoology and Ms Hala Noman of the Department of Physics have been selected for the prestigious STEM-ER project of the Ohio State University as part of the Manmohan Singh-Obama knowledge Initiative

Sheth Zulfiqar Mohmad Yusuf, Research Scholar, Department of Economics, has been selected for a prestigious presidential scholarship by the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago to study business administration.

Dr Qazi Fariduddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, received the Raman Fellowship of UGC to visit USA for one year under Indo-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiative for conducting advance research in Molecular Biology in relation to Food Security at Michigan State University, USA.


Professor Saiyed Mohammad Ameen Mian Qadri, Department of Urdu has again found a place among five hundred most influential Muslims of the world for the fifth time. The directory is published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Centre, USA.
